Entry Rules:
- All Fiber Arts entries must be one-of-a kind, crafted by the exhibitor.
- Entry fees are $15.00 per item. Online payment is preferred, but an entry form is also available for those not using the registration site. Payment and registration instructions can be found here.
- Please place your entry, description tag, and entry tag (from the online registration system) in a clear gallon-size zipper-type bag.
- No entry substitutions once entered.
- Submission Maximums per artisan. Fiber Arts - 1 per division/category/group/class, Hand Spinners - 2 skeins per group/category/class (different fiber preparations), and Mills or Farms - 2 skeins per category/class (different production runs and/or dye lots).
Entry tags come from the online registration system. One must accompany the entry and state the artisan’s, spinner’s, or mill name, farm name, address, and entry classification. Entry classifications are explained below on this page. If known, the name and/or photograph of the alpaca whose fiber was used may also be included, attached to the Entry Tag.
Required Description Tag:
Description must provide construction details and is not limited to fiber preparation, fiber content, techniques used, and intended use. Written descriptions shall not exceed a 3” x 5” card size and must NOT contain identifying information, including but not limited to alpaca name, individual name, or farm name. Missing description tags or those containing identifying information will have judging points deducted.
Entry Submission:
Entries can be dropped off at the show on Friday April 8, 2022 by 3 pm or must be mailed/postmarked by April 1, 2022.

Entry Returns:
Entry must include a return address and $10.00 shipping cost (online payment preferred) for mailed returns. You or a representative that you designate in writing may pick up your entry at the show after 12 pm on Sunday April 10, 2022.

Security Policy:
Every effort will be made to provide a secure environment. PAOBA or MABA cannot be held responsible for individual items displayed. There is building security and the Fiber Arts display will be covered with sheets each night. Submission of an entry indicates agreement with these terms.

Classification Details
Fiber Arts
Classes:
- Accessories: Gloves, hats, socks, slippers, purses and other small wearable items such as jewelry.
- Accessories: Scarves and shawls.
- Garments: Sweaters, jackets, dresses, vests or complete outfits.
- Hearth & Home: Art, toys, pictures, figurines, etc.
- Hearth & Home: Home décor such as rugs, pillows, afghans, wall hangings, containers, etc.
- 100% Handwork - 100% handspun yarns with 100% handmade construction and/or 100% hand felted (may use commercially prepared roving)
- Partial or Non-Handwork – use of commercially spun yarn and/or machine knitted, woven, or felted construction.
- Beginner/Junior; working in Fiber Arts < 2 years & age 18 or younger.
- Beginner/Adult; working in Fiber Arts < 2 years and over age 18.
- Intermediate; working in Fiber Arts > 2 years and < 5 years.
- Advanced; working in Fiber Arts > 5 years.
Skeins must be at least 50 yards in length, 1.5 to 2 yards in circumference, neatly wound, “figure 8” tied in 4 places and placed in a plain clear zipper type gallon-sized plastic bag.
Groups:
- Beginner/Junior; working in Fiber Arts < 2 years & age 18 or younger.
- Beginner/Adult; working in Fiber Arts < 2 years and over age 18.
- Intermediate; working in Fiber Arts > 2 years.
- Advanced; working in Fiber Arts > 5 years.
- Yarn spun from commercially prepared fiber (roving, bats, tops, etc).
- Yarn spun from fiber hand prepared by the spinner.
- Classic / Singles — 100% Huacaya (natural or dyed)
- Classic / Singles — 100% Suri (natural or dyed)
- Classic / 2 or more ply — 100% Huacaya (natural or dyed)
- Classic / 2 or more ply — 100% Suri (natural or dyed)
- Classic / 2 or more ply — blends (at least 50% alpaca)
- Hand spindle: any ply, at least 50% alpaca
- Novelty yarn: must be spun using defined technique (Nap, Core, Spiral, Knot, Slub, Boucles, Beaded, etc.), be well constructed, and contain at least 50% alpaca.
Skeins must be at least 100 yards in length, 1.5 to 2 yards in circumference, neatly wound, “figure 8” tied in four places and placed in a zipper type gallon-size clear plastic bag.
Categories:
- Mill skeins: Entered by a mill demonstrating their best work.
- Farm skeins: Entered by an individual farm showing the quality of yarn from their fiber.
Classes:
- Knitting Superfine/Fine Yarn - Sock, Fingering, Baby, Sport – 100% alpaca
- Weaving Fine Yarn - 1200 yards/lb or greater – 100% alpaca
- Knitting Light/Medium Yarn - DK, Light Worsted, Worsted, Afghan, Aran – 100% alpaca
- Weaving Light/Medium Yarn - 850 yards/lb to 1199 yards/lb. – 100% alpaca
- Knitting Bulky/Super Bulky - Chunky, Craft, Rug, Bulky – 100% alpaca
- Weaving Bulky Yarn - less than 850 yards/lb. – 100% alpaca
- Novelty yarn: Boucles, Thick and Thin, Beaded, etc. - well constructed, 50% or more alpaca
